Wind energy in the city – wind energy on and on top of buildings: In addition to solar energy in the form of light and heat, wind energy can also be harvested in urban areas. The demonstration will be part of Phase 2 – from 2018 on – on top of the Science Tower there will be 2-4 units of the SFL T1 used for harvesting wind.

A requirement for the use of wind turbines in the city is the size and total construction: the T1 is less a classic wind turbine than much more an inverse aircraft turbine. Due to its aerodynamic shape, the special jacket increases the harvesting power of the turbine and prevents hazards such as ice throw, shadow impact or discoffect as well as direct damage caused by birds.
