The Science Tower will be able to produce and supply decentralized energy as a zero-emmision energy generator. Parts of this zero-emmision energy are stored either in the science tower itself or in coupled systems. As a system, the Science Tower is linked to electric mobility, which affects both new and old electric vehicles! Batteries that are no longer used as e-motives are reconfigured as stationary energy storage devices in the Science Tower basement.
In their second-life cycle, used e-motive batteries are reconfigured in a new configuration and serve as an electrical energy store in the Science Tower. This decentralized energy storage device can be used to compensate for “mains spikes”, that is, (“balancing energy”) as well as decentralized input into the network (as a balancing buffer) – and ultimately increase the self-gain wheel of the Science-Tower. As a pilot project, SFL works together with R & D partners to develop a second lifecycle for ELI battery packs, the universal mobile platform from SFL!
